Trézor wallets are non-custodial, meaning only you control your private keys. When you set up your wallet via Trézor.io/Start®, no data ever leaves your device. The setup wizard is designed for simplicity, guiding even first-time users through the process of installing firmware, creating a PIN, and generating recovery seeds.
How to Start Your Trézor® Device
1. Go to the Official Setup Page
Visit https://trezor.io/start. Always confirm that you are on the official Trézor website before connecting your device.
2. Connect Your Device
Plug in your Trézor wallet using the USB cable provided. The device will power on and display a welcome message.
3. Install Firmware
If this is your first time setting up the device, Trézor Suite will prompt you to install the latest firmware. This step ensures that your device is running the most secure version.
4. Create a PIN & Recovery Seed
Choose a secure PIN to protect access to your wallet. Write down the 12-, 18-, or 24-word recovery seed on the provided recovery card — this is the only way to restore your wallet if the device is lost or damaged.
